Public clinical sources for the care and equipment examples
Educational work by a pre-medical student — not medical advice. Not a clinical protocol, prescription, or patient handout, and not for patient care. See DISCLAIMER.
Checked 28 October 2026. The new laboratory examples, pain/airway/ventilation examples and equipment guide link each teaching item to publicly accessible clinical guidance, published clinical reviews or official device guidance. No experimental treatment is introduced. These are original short explanations, not reproduced guideline tables or licensed society algorithms.
What the sources establish
- Clinical guideline/consensus: supports the stated practice within its population and recommendation strength. Conditional options remain conditional.
- Clinical educational review: supports definitions, physiology and clinical context; its publication does not make a device routine for all patients.
- Official device information: supports technical/safety facts; FDA pages are not peer-reviewed treatment guidelines and have no DOI.
- Authored fictional application: illustrates a source-supported principle; neither a DOI nor the presence of a citation independently validates the entire synthetic case.
A public source is not necessarily the latest source for every subspecialty issue. Older foundational sources are identified. The source passages relevant to these summaries and DOI identities where applicable were checked; no exhaustive full-text/supplement/correction appraisal, clinical validation or institutional protocol approval is claimed. Existing manuscripts and their citations have not been revalidated by this addition.

Case navigation
The procedure casebook links all 18 pairs to applicable laboratory, respiratory/pain and equipment explanations. The earlier 42-topic ICU companion and its source register remain separate. The new guides add explanations, not fixed standing laboratory orders, drug schedules or device-setting prescriptions.
Machine-readable source and coverage record.
Statement-level evidence classification
The classification review checks 27 scoped recommendation groups against public recommendation/definition sections and distinguishes them from general clinical knowledge, context-dependent practice and synthetic examples. Source location and applicable population are recorded in JSON. The whole case is not assigned the authority of a guideline merely because one supporting source is a guideline.
