Self-assessment rubric: synthetic physiology reasoning

Educational work by a pre-medical student — not medical advice. Not a clinical protocol, prescription, or patient handout, and not for patient care. See DISCLAIMER.

Revised 27 October 2026. This is a study aid, not a validated assessment, clinical credential or readiness-to-practice scale.

For each exercise, score each dimension from 0 to 2: 0 = absent/incorrect; 1 = partially explained with unresolved gaps; 2 = clear explanation with explicit limits. Scores organize revision priorities and have no clinical pass threshold.

Dimension What to look for
Facts versus hypotheses Fictional observations separated from diagnostic inferences
Mechanisms At least two plausible explanations and evidence that could distinguish them
Measurement Units, method, timing, artifact and uncertainty stated
Source use Exact source/version, population, design and claim alignment
Generalization Direct evidence separated from extrapolation
Patient preferences Goals and capacity considered separately from code-status labels
Scope No unsupported prescription, device adjustment or independent clinical-competence claim
Revision A counterargument, corrected error and remaining uncertainty recorded

Study log

Record the date, scenario, source checked, your initial interpretation, what changed and an unresolved question. Do not enter real encounter or patient details. Obtain feedback only through an appropriately authorized educational arrangement; do not imply institutional review or endorsement without it.
